Other points of note:

Centurians!

Centurians (like the little guy at the top of the screen) are a very interesting game idea (they're also not all that useful, but that's beside the point) See, you track down these things: (The thing I'm about to hit with my mallet (TANGENT ALERT[1]))
All the Centurians were turned into statues because they are great fighters (not really, see above) So you should free them. You don't have to, but it's only nice. If you free them, they'll show up and fight the boss with you, in packs of three. They'll get mowed down rather fast, but it'll give you some time to freely lob arrows into the boss. You need Mallets to free them though. Mallets are rather cheap at 20 heart pieces (TANGENT ALERT[2]), but you when you have to decide between health (at 210 heart pieces) and getting a little winged guy to help you, it's a hard choice. You can also get them by hitting a harp, which turns all nearby enemies into Mallets for an annoyingly short time, in which you can grab them.

Metroids!

Yeah, I don't know why you get attacked by Metroids on Stage 3. The FAQ I found calls them "Komaytos", but that's just silly. The thing is obviously a Metroid. Looks a bit frozen too.

Crappy Lava!

Note to game developers: Check for touching hurt-thingies EVERY FRAME or check for entering/leaving the zone. Every 5 seconds isn't enough or you can jump in the lava and not hurt, if you're lucky. Also notice the "Hot Springs": (Healing pools)
So, yellow lava = full heal, red lava = death. Righto.
TANGENT 1: Doesn't that mallet make you want to smash barrels and save your girlfriend from a big ape?
TANGENT 2: Games (and game programmers) which use hearts for something other than health should be shot. out of a cannon. INTO THE SUN! It's just wrong. If you have a heart in your game, it needs to either be health or be flying through the air after a grenade goes off in someone's face.
DOUBLETANGENT: I could have SWORN that Half-Life sometimes spawned multiple heart models as gibs. Maybe half the guards were really Time Lords? I dunno.
